Hey guys! I was chosen as a recipient for the Gilman Scholarship in 2014 and would like to share some information and tips about applying for this important scholarship that can award up to $8,000 dollars for your study abroad trip. ***For the Gilman scholarship, make sure to check the deadlines listed on the website for the term in which you are applying to study abroad. You want to give yourself plenty of time to get in all of the required documents (copy of passport, recommendation letters, etc.) as well as your program budget because some forms like your transcripts can take time for you to obtain. In regards to the two-part essay, you have to state why you are studying abroad and why you should receive the scholarship. Maybe you want to discuss your diverse background or financial hardships. In addition, make sure to get your essay proofread for any mistakes or errors you might have made. For the second part, you have to draft a rough plan for a project that will help more students study abroad and recognize the Gilman Scholarship as a great option to fund their trip. See the website for more details and make sure your plan is realistic, attainable, and can accomplish the goals of promoting the Gilman Scholarship to future students. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here or contact the UWW Center for Global Education! Thanks, Ashley Gilman Website: www.iie.org/Programs/Gilman-Scholarship-Program
